Harold B. Kaiser, M.D.

Harold B. Kaiser, MD is an allergist in private practice with Allergy & Asthma Specialists, P.A. Minneapolis, Minnesota and he is also a Clinical Professor of Medicine at the University of Minnesota Medical School. In addition, he is affiliated with Clinical Research Institute, Inc. in Minneapolis.
 
Dr. Kaiser is Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and American Board of Allergy & Immunology. He also is a member of many professional organizations including the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, the American College of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology, the American Association of Certified Allergists, and the American College of Physicians. He has been past President of the Minnesota Allergy and North Central Allergy Societies.
 
Author or co-author of more than 100 articles, editorials and chapters, Dr. Kaiser has directly participated in more than 600 clinical studies in the field of Allergy & Immunology. He has been on the Board of Editors for Patient Care Magazine and the Annals of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology and has served as a consultant for the Journal of the American Medical Association.
 
He received his medical degree at the University of Minnesota School of Medicine. His post-graduate education included residences in Internal Medicine at UCLA Medical Center, the Los Angeles Veteran’s Administration Hospital, and the University of Minnesota Hospitals and the Minnesota Veteran’s Administration Hospital, as well as a Fellowship in Allergy & Immunology as UCLA Medical Center.


Philip C. Halverson, M.D.

Philip C. Halverson, M.D. joined Allergy & Asthma Specialists, P.A. in 1987. He earned his medical degree from the University of Minnesota School of Medicine, Minneapolis, Minnesota. He completed Internal Medicine residency at Mt. Sinai Medical Center, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee Campus, Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, Iowa City, Iowa.
 
Dr. Halverson is  Board Certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and American Board of Allergy and Immunology. He is an Adjunct Professor of Medicine, University of Minnesota Medical School, Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care and teaches medical students and residents in the diagnosis and care of patients with asthma and allergic diseases. He is a Fellow in the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology and Fellow in the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology.
 
Dr. Halverson has been actively involved in clinical research for over 20 years serving as Principal Investigator in many clinical trials in the areas of asthma and allergic rhinitis.


Gary D. Berman, M.D.

Gary D. Berman, MD earned his medical degree from the Mayo Medical School, Mayo Clinic Rochester, Minnesota. He was an Internal Medicine resident physician at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation, Cleveland, Ohio, and also completed Fellowships in Allergy and Immunology and Headaches. Dr. Berman is Board Certified by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology and is certified by the National Board for Certification in Headache Management.
 
He is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Medicine, University of Minnesota, Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology and a member of the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology; the America Thoracic Society; and the American Headache Foundation.
 
Dr. Berman has received the Minneapolis/St. Paul Magazine Top Doctor Award in the field of Allergy and Clinical Immunology.
 
Dr. Berman is active in clinical research acting as principal investigator of studies in asthma, allergy, headache and migraine. He has served on advisory boards for various pharmaceutical companies and lectures frequently on various topics including asthma, allergy and migraine. He has a busy practice devoting approximately 25% of his time to the treatment of headache patients.


Allan Stillerman, M.D.

Dr. Allan Stillerman grew up in South Africa and is a graduate of the University of Witwatersrand Medical School, Johannesburg. After completing an Internship in Internal Medicine and General Surgery at Johannesburg General Hospital, Dr. Stillerman came to the United States in 1977 where he completed his Internship in Pediatrics at Children's Hospital of Michigan and his Residency in Pediatrics at Michael Reese Hospital Chicago.
 
Combined Fellowships were completed at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Allergy and Clinical Immunology; Pediatric Pulmonary Diseases, and Pediatric Clinical Pharmacology.
 
Dr. Stillerman joined Allergy & Asthma Specialists, P.A. in January 1998
 
Dr. Stillerman is Board Certified by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology and Board Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics.
 
He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology; a Fellow of the American College of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology; a Member of American Thoracic Society; and a Member, American Academy of Pediatrics.

He is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Medicine, University of Minnesota, and Department of Medicine: Division of Pulmonary, Allergy and Critical Care. He frequently instructs Medical Students and Residents on Clinical Management of Asthma and Allergic Diseases.

Dr. Stillerman has conducted medically supervised  Oral Food Challenges since 1987 to confirm the diagnosis of food allergies and to determine whether the allergic patient has developed a tolerance.
 
He has lectured extensively, regionally and nationally in the fields of asthma, food allergy, anaphylaxis and allergic rhino-conjunctivitis. He serves on advisory boards for various pharmaceutical companies regarding these diseases.
 
Dr. Stillerman conducts clinical research with the Clinical Research Institute, Inc., of Minneapolis and Plymouth as a Principal Investigator in the fields of asthma and allergic rhino conjunctivitis. 
 
Member National Committees: American Academy of Allergy Asthma Allergy and Immunology Committee of Adverse Reactions to Foods and also Committee of Anaphylaxis. Member Minnesota Committees: Children’s Physician Network, Minnesota Allergy Society.

Dr. Stillerman is a Medical Advisor to, and Member of the Board of Anaphylaxis and Food Allergy Association of Minnesota. He has testified in the Minnesota Senate and House of Representatives in support of the Bill authorizing school children in Minnesota to self carry and self administer epinephrine auto-injectors. Member of Minnesota Allergy Society.
 
Prior to joining Allergy & Asthma Specialists, Dr. Stillerman was in private practice in Allergy and Pediatric Lung Diseases with the Heart & Lung clinic in Bismarck, North Dakota for 12 years where he was also Director of The Cystic Fibrosis Clinic; Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine. During this time he was Medical Director of the American Lung Association Asthma Camp of North Dakota and served as President of the American Lung Association.
 
Dr. Stillerman has received the Minneapolis St. Paul Magazine Top Doctors Award in the field of Allergy and Clinical Immunology. He is married to Loni and has two children.


Richard P. Bransford, M.D.

Richard P. Bransford, M.D. earned his medical degree from the University of Minnesota. Postgraduate education included a residency in Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin Hospitals and Clinics in Madison, Wisconsin as well as a fellowship in Allergy and Immunology at the Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee.
 
Dr. Bransford is Board Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics and the American Board of Allergy and Immunology. He is on the Medical Board for Camp Superkids Asthma Camp and regularly presents for the American Lung Association Asthma Educators Course. He enjoys teaching medical and pediatric residents from the University of Minnesota as well as undergraduate biology students at Concordia University, St. Paul. In his spare time he enjoys camping with his family and training for 10 K runs.

 

 


Hemalini Mehta, M.D.

Hemalini Mehta, M.D. earned her medical degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin. Postgraduate education included a residency in Pediatrics at Columbus Children’s Hospital, Columbus, Ohio and Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She completed her Fellowship in Allergy and Clinical Immunology at the University of Wisconsin. Dr. Mehta is Board Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, and the American Board of Allergy and Immunology.
 
She is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Medicine, University of Minnesota, Division of Pulmonary, Allergy, and Critical Care. She enjoys teaching medical students and residents. Dr. Mehta is also a member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology and the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology. She lectures frequently on various allergy topics to physicians, nurses, and pharmacists.

Hemalini was born in East Africa and spent her childhood in India and England. She moved to the US as a teenager. She lives in Plymouth with her husband and two daughters.


Mary Anne Elder, R.N., M.S., F.N.P.

Mary Anne Elder, RN, MS, FNP-C, AE-C received her Family Nurse Practitioner education and Masters of Science from University of Colorado Health Science Center in Denver in 1984. She has been actively involved in the specialty of asthma and allergic diseases for over 20 years. Ms. Elder is also the Research Manager, Clinical Research Institute, Inc. the clinic’s research arm.
 
In addition, Ms. Elder provides individual and group patient education for the practice as well as staff development. She speaks frequently to health care providers on the subject of allergy and asthma at local and national meetings and conferences. Ms. Elder is a cofounder of the practice’s Annual Allergy & Asthma Conference, which is specifically directed to the learning needs of non-physician health care providers. She is a member of the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology; the American College of Allergy, Asthma, and Immunology; and Association of Asthma Educators.
