- When you receive a call from the Research Assistant they will complete what is called a “Phone Screen”. This may take approximately fifteen minutes or more.
- The Phone Screen consists of some general health questions to assess whether or not you would fit the criteria for one of our current research studies.
- If a research study is available for which you may qualify, the Research Assistant will then explain the research study requirements.
- If you are interested in possible participation in the research study, the Research Assistant will proceed with more specific medical questions related to the study.
- If you meet the initial qualifications of the research study, you will then schedule an appointment for an initial Screening Visit at our research facility.
- At the Screening Visit you will be asked to read an Informed Consent Form which outlines the requirements of the research study and possible risks involved.
- Your Screening visit will be conducted by a Research Coordinator who will go through the Informed Consent Form with you to make sure you fully understand all aspects of the study. The Research Coordinator along with the Principal Investigator (Physician) will be able to answer any questions you may have prior to obtaining your signature on the form.
- Once the Informed Consent Form has been signed, the Research Coordinator will continue with the Screening Visit. A Medical History and a Medication review will be completed. If it is determined that you will qualify to participate in the research study, additional procedures may be performed.
- Requirements for participation are different for each research study. Not every volunteer will qualify for the study. If you do not qualify for the research study, we will ask your permission to keep your information in our database so we may contact you for future research studies.
